FYI: 911firefighters.com is for sale
on SnapNames.com. The auction begins today around 3:00 Eastern if you are interested.

This will probably drop to the bottom quickly, but that's okay. I just thought if someone wanted to develop it I'd point out the sale.

1. Somebody better buy it before Giuliani buys it...
And either turns it into a blank page (As Bush's campaign had done) or fill it with propaganda.

2. That one should be donated.
Who makes money off of something like that? Sick.

3. Evidently somebody registered the name and didn't develop the name and didn't renew it.

4. I think snapnames.com bought the name with the intention of reselling at a profit.

5. That's not the way it works. They pick up dropped names and sell them.
I know because I bid and buy there all the time. :)

6. By "pick up" you mean "buy", right?
Snapnames.com can't take ownership of a domain unless they actually purchase it.
They obviously had no intention of developing a site for the domain name, they fully intended to sell it at a profit. They aren't the only company around doing that.

7. From SnapNames site:
SnapNames is the most trusted source for developing domain name portfolios to help build your business, whether to drive traffic to your web site or to manage yourself. With more than 20,000 fresh expired domains flowing into SnapNames inventory every day, we sell more fresh expired domains at auction than all of our competitors combined.

How Does SnapNames Get Domain Names?
SnapNames pioneered the most efficient marketplace to buy web domain names and offers you the greatest chance to get the domain you want. We have exclusive partnerships with some of the best registrars in the business. Our domain name resale auctions are powered by innovative, patent-pending technology that give customers exclusive, first access to the world's largest inventory of high-traffic, brand-able and investment grade domain names. And, we offer domain names from professional domain portfolios, which are some of the highest quality domains available on the market.

------

SnapNames picks up a crap load of names as you can see. Some never sell...either because they're terrible or typos or whatever. On the other hand, I've been in auctions that I've seen go for over $70,000. This particular name won't go for much, but I thought someone here might be interested.

Also, yes, they're in business to make money and hope to sell all of the domains for profit.

Melissa

8. Right, they suck! :) Your quote doesn't disagree with what I've said.
Personally, I think what they're doing is a lousy practice. Maybe someday cybersquatting laws will expand to cover that type of thing.
