map directly over Chico

So far CHP website has had a few trees down, a few boulders on the road and a collision or two

Looks like I am up for the day

sure glad my son has a car pool to work and no longer has to ride his bike the 5 miles each way!

oh shit, really loud crashing sound of metal right outside my bedroom window from the neighbors house-will have to wait for daylight to see what it was

trying to get just the map to appear, but can't figure out what part of the code to copy-too early...

I did it! by copying link in other thread!

5. California disaster cycles are short. The word for the day is "mudslide".
Here is list of California's tribulations, usually seen once per year:

  1. Hot, dry winds
  2. Drought
  3. Fire with more winds
  4. Heavy precipitation
  5. Mudslides

You guys are now in phase 5.

10. If the tree were to fall on the neighbor's house, its the neighbor's problem
Financially, anyway. The neighbor's insurance is what would take care of it. Something to note if you have a neihbor with a huge tree pointed at your house, try to get them to take care of it before it becomes your problem.

13. and here I was worried about one of our trees whose limbs were hanging over on the neighbors
that we just trimmed those very limbs from after our last ice storm. And all this time I thought since the tree was on our property we would be liable for it. learn something new every day is my plan ;-)

11. just heard sirens, but no sounds of trees falling-15 years ago had a neighbor's tree fall in my yard
using the law library and NOLO press I was able to get their insurance company to pay for my apple, oak and cypress it crushed. Their tree was an 80' tall, 8 trunked oak tree that came down after an early snow fall. Ten feet from my house!

They had watered, graded, asphalted, planted ivy and basically created grounds for oak root fungus to set in.

8. My silver maple from a couple of years ago is just about gone
I have been slowly injecting its tons of carbon into the atmosphere... Feel bad about that, but my furnace has not been on since Thanksgiving. I've used less than a cubic foot of natual gas a day (hot water), saving me a couple hundred dollars in heating bills. It has helped while I've been job hunting. I have an interview in an hour and a half, wish me luck.

14. I have no heat, warm now at 40 something was in the 20's last week-brrr
they took down one silver maple last year and it was rotted clear through. Silver maples are notorious for breaking limbs (and roofs). Not a good tree to plant next to homes! It is 10' from my house.

They got some estimates for the second and were given prices in the thousands.

Tree workers will be busy this week!

Good luck on the interview!

4. They're forecasting 70 MPH winds
here in the San Joaquin Valley today. Plus 7 days of solid rain which is a real drag because my roof started leaking right after Christmas and there was almost no one open from which to get bids during that week. I finally settled on a contractor ($7,000 later - *cough*) and now it's supposed to rain for 7 days solid. This is going to be an interesting week. Wet but interesting.

9. Tarps I have but with 70 MPH winds
they're not going to be real effective when they wind up in Visalia (I'm in Fresno).
