Is Anyone Else Pissed at How the Elite Corrupt Our Democratic Process?
Have you had enough of the wealthy making decisions for you? Are you interested in REAL Democracy or not? If not, you don't deserve to consider yourselves Democrats. If a candidate needs money and corporate interests to slant this process to win, then that candidate isn't Democratically LEGIT!

How many people in this country actually vote? What percentage do you think believes enough in this system of ours to even bother to vote? You think that apathy is unjustified? And people wonder why we get screwed year after year? You think wealthy folks, democratic or republican give a damn about average Americans? They laugh at you and me for even pointing out the most obvious injustice in our election process; the wealthy decide who we can and cannot vote for.

This system has got to change. Public financing of all elections and every candidate gets the same time to present their platform. Until then, this is not a democracy but a rip-off of one!

4. America is Dying Because of it
what remains alive and well is that part which only benefits the wealthy. But grassroots is growing and we are getting angrier and angrier. Scraps will be of no interest anymore.

7. Hell no. It's working out just great for me...
And just as soon as I can afford to buy my very own Senator and a couple of representatives, it's going to get better still.

not after living a life with very little and struggling with so many that have less. I couldn't live with that on my conscience.

11. Oh nonsense, let's pool our quarters and see who's available.
I'll even take a republican as long as they don't forget where the money came from.

These hopeless assholes just prove every single day the truth of that old line about an honest politician being one that stays bought. Just so.

I'll take the honorable gentleman from Louisiana for $500K, Alex. The diaper fetishist guy right over there.

9. So Agreed. We don't need anymore corporate whores (man or woman).
The corporations and the media are the enemies of democracy.

10. People DO Not Feel Represented and This is Part of the Reason
If you are wealthy enough and have enough corporate pull, you can buy the presidency here. Everything is for sale.

14. We have to make the effort
It starts in the community. I remember when the religious movement started, and as a high school student in the 70's I read everything. I swear I read something back then about their strategy. Hard to believe. The religious right started and they began by having active precinct captains and running for school board and city council, etc. Reagan won in 80 from their efforts. If we ever want to get off our asses and do anything, that is the way. It might take 25 or 30 years for us to get our country back.

That's my opinion anyway.

Should I not be pissed then and just go along with it? Not sure I understand the intent of your statement. I asked if people were sick of it.

21. go ahead, be pissed. matters not to me.
but if people are really sick of it, they should stop supporting the either of the two established political parties. doing so only keeps the elites in power.

they are controled by elites, who have no intention of just giving up their positions of power to the working class citizens of this country.

you can expect no support from the dem party on any kind of public financing initiative.

23. So Why Even Post
You think shit is going to really change if no one supports either political party. You admit the elite control everything yet don't believe we should try to influence the process within either party. How exactly is that going to work?

24. well, the obvious solution is alternative politcal parties along with public financing
breaking the 2 party stranglehold on the politcal process is probably more important than public financing.
