What I learned from the Great Depression
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 10:01 PM by Bobbieo
I was a child of the 1930s – the Great Depression – and learned life’s lessons very well. You do not spend what you do not have so I was never one to get deeply in debt with the credit card craze.

I tried to pay off my one card every month and when I had an emergency whereby I had to use the card because of lack of cash, I put no more charges on the card until I was able to pay off the emergency debt. This has worked well for me.

As it stands, I owe nothing on the credit card and was able to pay off the mortgage on the house last month and got a tidy refund check yesterday which I deposited in the savings account.

We, as a family, are in good shape and only wish others were faring as well as I am right now. Isn’t amazing what seven years of George W. Bush has done to this country.

BTW - Didn't we have a gov't surplus when Bill Clinton left office?

victim... ain't shitting you.

We do the same... hell we try (and manage to most of the time) to SAVE every month, I know what a silly concept, and bought our computers paying cash

3. Texas also had a huge surplus when georgie road into town and he gave it away
to his corrupt corporate cronies and laughed about it. He bankrupted Texas and went on too do the same to the rest of the Country.
