Obama is not as eloquent when there is no prepared speech
just an observation.

Edwards had a lot of energy and passion , Yet I just can't bring myself to believe that he is really sincere. I feel he talks like a lawyer ,or a salesman , the kind that can sell you the moon.

Clinton was angry , yes , but the most authentic and real tonight, at least she felt like that to me tonight, I felt a bit sorry for her.

I want Dennis , but since that will never happen I'm still undecided.

4. Yep- and to be expected
The give & take of debate formats don't fit his rhetorical style.

5. This is no doubt true. But a big part of being president is the public relations
aspect of it. I think the Dems are in broad agreement about what they will want to do, at least domestically. The difference is as much stylistic as substantive. Obama's ability to go before the American people and persuade them to go along with him will be very valuable. Numbers are power, even in much less democratic countries than ours.

6. Not many of us are, without a script
I would need a drink and a joint to get really eloquent on tv. I have noticed the same about Barak, but he sure can crank out a barn burner. Too bad, he seems anxious to compromise.

8. Obama is one of the best orators I have ever heard. His debate skills need some work, but he'll get
there ! Debate is a natural condition for Edwards. He was absolutely phenomenal.

11. All well and good, but
we're not electing someone to debate. I don't give a rat which candidate is glibber and a quicker thinker on their feet any more than I care which candidate would be best to have a beer with. Neither are important qualities in a sitting president.

13. I am also uncommitted but read it differently,
especially after viewing juxtaposed to the republican debate that was very vague and full of platitudes. I won't repeat myself (expressed why I actually enjoyed the debate as an uncommitted on another thread) - but just say that while I am not won over to a candidate, and have caveats about each - I fell more comfortable with the top three than I did before tonight.

15. Yes, Edwards is smooth and polished...
That doesn't mean he isn't sincere about what he's saying.

This was a hurdle for me, too. I know where you're coming from. But Edwards has convinced me that he means what he says. No politician is going to be perfect or free from temptation. But I do believe that Edwards will fight for ordinary Americans, and he will do so more effectively than the other candidates.

17. I thought Obama was calm and reassuring tonight, I thought he held up to
the front-runner spotlight very well. He addressed questions thoroughly and thoughtfully and he did it with candor instead of employing excerpts of stump speeches.

I thought Senator Clinton did very well also. She did a better job tonight of pointing out exactly how her experience of the past was relevant and how she would capitalize on that experience as the President. She was warm and funny, but tough when she needed to be.
