Why I Believe Bush Must Go
Submitted by davidswanson on Sun, 2008-01-06 12:51. Impeachment
Nixon Was Bad. These Guys Are Worse.
By George McGovern, Washington Post

As we enter the eighth year of the Bush-Cheney administration, I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of the president and the vice president.

After the 1972 presidential election, I stood clear of calls to impeach President Richard M. Nixon for his misconduct during the campaign. I thought that my joining the impeachment effort would be seen as an expression of personal vengeance toward the president who had defeated me.

Today I have made a different choice.

Of course, there seems to be little bipartisan support for impeachment. The political scene is marked by narrow and sometimes superficial partisanship, especially among Republicans, and a lack of courage and statesmanship on the part of too many Democratic politicians. So the chances of a bipartisan impeachment and conviction are not promising.

But what are the facts?

3. Please keep this kicked. Everyone needs to read it.
Win, lose, or draw we need to get Impeachment proceeding started. It is the only way to stop these people and the process alone will be enough to stop them.

Thanks for posting this!

Remember that there's still a candidate running who's for impeachment, and no, it's not Ron Paul!

7. Not IMPEACHING Bush is the Reason the Democratic Party Will Be Called Weak
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 10:24 AM by fascisthunter
for years to come. History will judge Bush as the worst President ever, but guess what? The Dem's did nothing about it all. Sure sure.... angry letters, and subpoenas and some hearings, but he still remained in office and got just about everything he wanted when it came to Iraq.

That's why a lot of democrats wanted impeachment. Not just to hold these thugs accountable but so we could claim to be a party that gave a damn and put our money where our mouths were when the time had come. Thanks to the Republican-Lite leadership and a bunch of sellouts in our own party, the Democrats will NEVER be able to claim such a thing. Those arguing against impeachment didn't want to hold Bush accountable, not because they believed there would be real fall-out from the media, etc., but because it was more advantageous to the corporatist themselves, that which they benefit directly from.

Bank on it.
