Don't get me wrong... I am following the Republican race very closely. But mainly for its entertainment value, because its twists and turns are so comic and fascinating.
My view on the race is that all of the Republican candidates, while they each have some strengths, are so seriously flawed, each in their own ways, on top of the baggage of fealty to 8 years of the worst presidential administration in American history, that it's a nonissue which one wins.
That doesn't mean that I discount the possibility that they WILL win. Not at all. But I do think that a Republican win, after all this, would mean that
-the Democratic candidate or their campaign -the election system -democracy in America
(some or all of the above) are irrevocably broken or corrupted.
I think it's more an issue of which candidate the Democratic Party picks, and that candidate running a halfway competent campaign.
For what it's worth, I see McCain as the only "legit" candidate on their side and the likely nominee, assuming he can complete his Lazarus act in New Hampshire as appears likely. But I can definitely see Huckabee or Romney getting the nomination, and Giuliani to a much lesser degree. But I don't feel particularly more "concerned" about any one versus the others.
