THERE IS NO REPUBLICAN PARTY

Iowans have Iowa back to themselves now. In the 24 hours that remain before New Hampshire steals the headlines, Iowa voters look ahead to the general election for President of the United States.

Today, 01/07/08 …

* Obama defeats McCain by 17 points.
* Obama defeats Huckabee by 23 points.
* Obama defeats Romney by 26 points.
* Obama defeats Giuliani by 40 points.

Today, 01/07/08 …

McCain defeats Clinton by 4 points (within the margin of sampling error).
Huckabee and Clinton tie.
Clinton defeats Romney by 8 points.
Clinton defeats Giuliani by 16 points.

OBAMA is simply THE. STRONGEST. DEMOCRATIC. CANDIDATE. EVER.

Please recommend if you want to unfairly influence the election today in Obama's favor.

Oh my God check this out!!!!! The breakdown! Obama winning 35% of the REPUBLICAN vote against Giuliani!!!!!

2. Nobody's going to flock to the GOP candidate this time...
....they'll hold their nose and vote, just like we were going to with Hillary. It won't be as enthusiastic as our guy...

7. And once the Machine gets going
No one's going to flock to the Dem candidate, either. It'll get that ugly; bank on it.

The only way we'll win in that environment is if we all work individually to get our people to the polls.

3. I dont even know why you bother

In a few months time, policies will start flowing and change and you'll find thats why independents are so hard to include in your primary because they take a harder look in the GE and if they dont like what see will move off.

At present its all perception but once the razzle dies down and we get to the nitty gritty dont be surprised if a lot of those independents slack off elsewhere.

10 Months is a long time in politics and if certain turn off certain states, well.....

4. Unfortunately, the general election isn't held in Iowa.
The Iowa numbers should be self-evident. The turnout for Dems was more than double that of Reps.

8. Actually you're wrong. The pros see Iowa as typical of Middle America. This poll is significant

12. "typical of Middle America"
And that applies to all of the United States how, exactly?

Iowa is representative of nothing but Iowa. It certainly isn't representative of Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, etc., and they are most certainly "Middle America".

14. You must not be a politcal professional like I am
The pros would all disagree with you.

I get paid to consult candidates, write campaign plans, strategize, poll and I am 24 out of 29 races.

What's your record in politics?

15. Bullshit.
If you don't know that Iowa is not event remotely like Nebraska or South Dakota politically, I'd fire you as a political consultant in a heartbeat.

19. I can't agree with you more
After living in Iowa for a time, and a number of other places in the Mid-west, West and East Coast, Iowa is not politically like Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, etc.

All the "advisers" were saying Hillary was polling well in Iowa and going to win Iowa. Myself and all the others I know on DU who had lived in Iowa all said "Hillary will not win Iowa", and we were all right.

9. Fortunately, Iowa's a red state.
So if he's kicking ass there, just imagine how he'd do in the rest of the country.

13. Iowa's not a red state.
In 2006, Iowa took a significant left turn. Dems picked up seats in all levels of government and lost few, if any, incumbent seats. It was blue then, and the trend will likely continue in '08.

5. Pet Rocks once outsold real toys for almost six months.
Everybody just HAD to have one. They just didn't know why.

They were new. They were different. They represented change.

Also, I once listened to a radio poll in which the Monkees defeated the Beatles for "best Rock and Roll Group.

Fads happen.
