5. Probly because exit polling is uncannily accurate in states with hand counting.
Exit polls only fail in states with certain types of machines. The reason for this is one of the great mysteries in life.

Maybe I'm not remembering accurately but I think they close in MA at 8 PM

I didn't know NH closed them that early and I do wonder why.

Exit polls are usually dead accurate. Further most countries project election results after 10%. Gore won and Kerry won!!
