Does an Obama loss tonight possibly HELP him?
First.. i'm an Obama fan.. bummed he lost, but it was close. And, congrats to the Clinton fans - you guys stuck with your candidate through all of the Media Hype about her being down & out.. and showed them a thing or two. Great Job!

But, I'm wondering if a close loss might actually help him? Does this make his campaign work harder and push harder for each vote? Does this mean the next time the media says "He's going to win by 7% - 13%" - his voters get suspicious and know they need to get out and vote like crazy anyway (not saying that happend in NH.. i have no idea).

Does this take some of the dreaded "spotlight" off of him now that he shares the lead?

Does it HURT him with less momentum in SC? Does it scare off voters down there who now may think again that he CAN'T win?

Just thinking out loud.. wondering where this leaves him over the next couple of weeks.

1. So...
3% is a virtual tie. NH does not represent the rest of the nation. If preception can be held positive, then he can use this even as a catapult. Remember weeks ago, NH was a LOCK for HILLARY not Obama. This is an accomplishment not a loss.

3. My husband and I are Edwards supporters, but we were debating whether to donate to Obama.
My husband wants to stick with Edwards. I think, realistically, Edwards won't get the nomination, and it's important for the anti-Hillary majority in the party to unite against her. So, I think I'd like to send Obama some $$.

5. That's funny..
After he won in Iowa.. i didn't give him any more money.. i was thinking.. ohh.. he has this wrapped up.. people will throw money to him in droves now.

But now with a slim loss tonight.. i'm thinking about pushing another $50 his way just to keep the momentum going. Funny how a loss makes me want to contribute more then his win did... i don't know why?

4. it's like a whole new race imo. If he won tonight it would have been over and really
boring imo but now, who knows what will happen and i think at this pint conventional wisdom is not applicable.

6. I like the fact that both Clinton and Obama have won one,
because the media is QUICK to tear down a clear front runner. Now the idiot talking heads are confused. LOL. I love it!

8. I think it helps him
The campaign is far from over. We don't need a solidified candidate this soon. There's too much to discuss and voices that still need to be heard. I think Obama needs to earn some campaign cred and now he has the opportunity to do just that.

11. I agree..
I think having him on the top so soon might have had him in the same position as Hillary. The word "Inevidable" seems to be quick to get thrown out.. but hard to earn.

Let's see how we do down south!

9. Probably yes.
He hasn't faced a really tough campaign yet which is my only misgiving about him. I've been afraid that he would be as much of a gentleman as Gore & Kerry were and "nice guy" himself into losing 30+ states when the inevitable rethuglican smears started.

At least I know that the Clintons will FIGHT BACK!

I told my wife that its a shame that Hillary can't be our candidate and Barak be our president!

10. No,
not when you make history with a twenty to one come back in two days. That's like being dropped from a ten story building on your head.

12. I agree somewhat- but who GAVE him that 20-1?
I did think he'd win tonight.. but in both of my prediction posts it was by 2%. I knew Iowa would be bigger, because I think a lot of the under 15% people flew to Obama and upped his number. Not the same thing in NH... plus how does a guy go from being down by 15 points to up by 13 in 3 weeks?

I DID think he would win.. and i'm a bit bummed that he lost, but a loss by this small of margin isn't as bad as I think a lot of us are thinking it is tonight.

16. Overconfidence is often fatal
I'm sure Hillary's people know that. Obama's people may have
temporarily forgotten it. It is a safe bet they won't forget
it again.

17. if he wins the primary
it will definitely help him in the general to face some adversity... I do think it's important he win SC and keep things at least close in nevada.

that no one is anointed - and I like it that way.
