Obama: “It’s not clear to me why I would be apologizing..."
...for someone else’s remarks,” Mr. Obama said, responding to the first question by Radio Iowa’s O’Kay Henderson. “My sense is that Mr. Geffen may have differences with the Clintons, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with our campaign.”

“I can’t be responsible for the statements of every single individual who contributes to our campaign,” Mr. Obama continued. “We have thousands of people who have differences with the other candidates. It doesn’t reflect the views that come from me or my staff.”

Mr. Obama, who was meeting with Democratic leaders in Iowa before holding a town meeting, tried to move onto other issues. “My suspicion is that the voters of Iowa are probably more concerned about what both myself and Senator Clinton think about Iraq, health care, jobs and issues,” he said.

The Iowa reporters, who can be as persistent as their East Coast bretheren, were not quite finished.

When asked whether he was proud of his support from Mr. Geffen, the senator declared: “He hosted an event for me yesterday. Absolutely.”

Before he moved inside the Capitol to meet with Democratic leaders, Mr. Obama was asked why he had bypassed the candidate forum of fellow presidential hopefuls in Carson City. “We had been in Nevada three days ago, so we thought it was more important to be here in Iowa,” he said.

Mr. Obama is holding a town meeting tonight in Des Moines.

Gee, all Mr. Geffen did was point out the reality that Hill and Bill are good liars with a bullseye painted on them.

5. Yeah, I know, it's so sad that when faced with real criticisms, not even by Obama...
that they cannot stand them. I don't doubt Mr. Geffen knows them well enough now to vouch for their lack of character.

C Matthews was commenting on H Clinton; kept saying she "glows" - just lights up the room when she enters - then said Obama doesn't have that "glow"

it was frickin obvious to me what word fit better, but he dared not use it!

43. K.C. was my favorite!!
As a 'Karl with a K', maybe you'll understand why? As a pre-schooler learning the alphabet and learning how to spell my own name, 'Karl', and having the world revolve around me as pre-schoolers often do, everything 'K' was mine. K-Mart, K-cars, K-tel, Kinnett Dairies, and K.C. and the Sunshine band. To top it off, if there is a song more perfectly written for a five-year-old than "Shake Your Booty", well, I haven't heard it! :D

44. Haha...I never regretted my name until Rove showed up.
After all, it's just the Teutonic spelling of "Charles" (same in English and French, even!), "Carlos",
and so forth...almost all cultures have an equivalent :D

And I like "Shake your booty" too. :-)

6. This is big.
For me, at least.

I don't trust Hillary. I just don't. There's something about her that I cannot trust.

I have been pretty cold towards Obama so far, but this definitely gets bonus points from me.

If the boy's got balls and he ain't afraid to use them, then I'll be more than happy to give him my support.

But I'm not quite convinced yet.

7. Um, let's see, what is it about Hillary we don't trust?
Maybe that she and her husband are big time members of the DLC?

That he pardoned Rich at the behest of freaking SCOOTER LIBBY!?!?

Or maybe that we all secretly wonder if she's already been President?

Or maybe that this nation is turning into a "biarchy"?

8. Well, there are those.
But for me, it goes much deeper than that.

She's a bald-faced liar at heart. And no, I cannot give you any "quotes" or "links" to it. It's just something that I know deep down.

I've watched politics for about half of my 42 years. I've always voted ideology rather than party.

Something I've learned is that if you watch the politician when they speak and watch their facial expressions and eye-contact with those with whom they are speaking, you'll be able to tell whether they're telling the truth or just pandering to those in the audience.

I can't trust her. There is something about her very being that is not right with the universe.

50. My feeling are that Hillary would sell out her
party, her country, her own grandmother if she thought it would help her become President. She wouldn't do it out of meaness or because she wants to inflict pain, but just out of pure ambition.

But those are just my feelings about her.

I also don't like her corporate sell out on healthcare reform. I find her desire to court big health insurance companies very unhelpful for people who need healthcare.

but I have been known to call men of any race "my boy", just as a slang expression and not derogatory in any way. I don't do it a lot, but your post made me think about it, and I don't see it as racist in every case.

For example, that's my boy Steve Earle down there. :)

16. This has got to stop right now
We're still a long ways away from the 2008 primaries and election, and the Democratic front-runners are wasting time and energy with this shit. If they don't drop this petty teenage crap, voters will remember. I don't like to speak in sound bites (that should be reserved for brainless conservatives), but our house cannot be divided.

32. i liked his response as well, i think it got blown out of proportion by that
ass Howard Wolfson, Geffen gave his money to Obama this time, it's his money and his choice and i think thats what the Clinton campaign is really mad at but they're disguising it under "Oh what Geffen said was an insult and outrageous!".

For the record i haven't decided who i'm supporting just yet so i think i can look at this objectively.

52. From what I see, There was two reasons for the reactions
from camp Hilary. The first was because of the loss of money donations and the Obama gain of such. The other reason was to draw attention off of State Senator Ford's statements last week which really were insulting, and to try to put Obama in the wrong instead of Hilary for not apologizing. Ford's comments were based on race, even if he is African American they were biased and harmful, and were not based on any knowledge he had of Obama himself. Geffen's comments were his own personal opinion of the Clintons and not really that damaging or insulting. (most of us already knew the things he said and voted for Bill for his second term) What was damaging was the handling of said statements by camp Hilary. I had not even heard of Geffen's remarks until the press release by Hilary's people, while Ford's statement was reported all over the place. Hilary should have apologized last week, Obama owes her nothing in my opinion.

with that said, this is not an earth shattering event. Just something to make you scratch your head and say "Ummmmmmm?".

40. BARF!! Invented intra-party spats because neither Sen. Clinton nor Sen. Obama will give them one
From what I can tell, this story is about Mr. Geffen. He supports one and criticizes another. But Beltway pundits and political reporters are standing by calling "Chicken!"

From what I've read, both Sen Clinton and Sen Obama refused to step in it, so it seems some are trying to pick it up and throw it.

South Park already did this episode. It was funny coming from animated fourth-graders who curse and hang out with musical poo. But reading this in the supposed "Newspaper of Record" is just embarrassing.

49. I Only Hope That MSM Picks Up On Obama's Response And Reports It......
tomorrow. Obama is a class act and his response showed his class. His response should stop this piling on him - dead in its tracks.

Watching CNN & MSNBC today - they jumped on this Geffen story and made more of it than they should have. It was fueled by the likes of Wolfson and Carvel - but of course we know who they are working for.

I'm fed up with these tactics that Hillary is now employing against Obama. We've had 6+ years of this from *Co and it is hard for me to support a candidate - like Hillary - that is employing the same *Co tactics.

For the last 6+ years I was hoping for a Hillary candidacy - anything but bush. Now seeing her campaign in action makes me suspect. She lost me today with this Geffen controversy.

Obama - and his response to this stupid tactic by Hillary and her people - has won my support.

Sorry - Hillary. Maybe if you fire Wolfson and talk about the issues - instead of creating false controversy's - you will win me back. But right now - you are reminding me of * and I don't like it.
