Here We Go: "S.C. to use voting machines banned in other states"

GREENVILLE — South Carolina election officials say they still plan to use touch-screen voting machines despite the fact that other states have banned the use of similar systems made by the same company.

Last month, top election officials in Ohio and Colorado declared that Election Systems and Software's iVotronic is unfit for elections. The ban was prompted by a study done for the state of Ohio in which researchers found electronic voting systems could be corrupted with magnets or handheld electronic devices such as Palm Treos.

"We've reviewed the report and we remain confident in the security and accuracy of South Carolina's voting system," state Election Commission spokesman Chris Whitmire said. But the South Carolina League of Women Voters has renewed its call for the state to record votes on paper as well as electronically to allow for accuracy checks, though there have been no documented cases of actual election tampering.

"It's very difficult to get evidence that somebody tampered with the vote if you have no way of knowing what the vote was before they tampered," said Eleanor Hare, a computer scientist who participated in a study of the machines by the South Carolina League of Women Voters.

4. Apparently the only way to stop it is
for people in all precincts to take magnets into the booths with them and disable the things, or skew the results so bad that they will have to be super scrutinized.

5. Oh no. Will Clinton win every primary counted by these machines?

If you flip Obama's and Clinton's machine counted votes, and add their hand counted votes (a tally Obama won), then it matches with all the polls.

9. Au contrair, the OP named no names, smeared no candidate
Simply reported that touch screen machines banned by other states were to be used in SC. Perhaps you should start reading for comprehension rather than the quick snark.

13. Some people stare straight into the box and think that nothing...
exists outside of it. I think this could come back to bite every democrats ass in the GE if its not taken seriously. All the republicans need is a democratic candidate that allot of people dislike so when they steal the election again, we do like before and just cry and say damn it, it was so close. If we elect a candidate that once on a national stage against a republican, the American people will want to vote for, it gets harder to steal the election because there would be outrage at the skewed results.

I wonder if people drive like this, only staring straight ahead and never paying attention to all of the details around them?
