this pissing contest between the Hillaryites and the Obamaites is getting ridiculous . . .
neither of these candidates is even addressing the critical issues that underlie all other issues, as summarized by Timothy V. Gatto in his recent article entitled The Issues The Candidates Won't Touch . . . to summarize once more, these issues include . . .

1. The corporate hold on the American political system.
2. The erosion of our civil liberties.
3. The Military Industrial Complex
4. The Crimes committed by the Bush Administration.
5. The Truth about September 11th, 2001.

http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_timothy__080109_the_issues_the_candi.htm

from my perspective, Mr. Gatto should have included a #6: The Privitization of U.S. Elections . . .

without addressing these issues, things like the war and healthcare and all the rest have no hope of solution . . . whether our candidate is Clinton or Obama makes no difference whatsoever, as far as I can see . . . neither will touch any of these issues -- which means that any promises of "change" they make is just meaningless rhetoric . . .

sure, I'll vote for the Democratic candidate, just as I have done in every election since 1964 . . . but I have no illusions about a Clinton or an Obama presidency resulting in any real change whatsoever . . . it didn't happen when we elected an Democratic Congress in the last election, and it won't happen now . . . as long as the corporations are calling the shots on issues like heathcare and warfare, all we'll get is a continuation of the BushCo years -- with maybe a few incremental and largely meaningless "changes" . . .

this all assumes, of course, that the Democratic candidate will win the election -- certainly not a given based on recent experience . . . or that there will even BE an election -- also not a certainty given BushCo's current situation, the direction of the economy, and events in the Middle East . . .

so I'm just gonna sit back and watch with detached amusement as this farce of a primary season runs its course and as we subject ourselves to yet another unverifiable general election . . . whatever the results, we won't be seeing any serious change anytime soon . . .

and given where we are as a nation and a planet, that is absolutely tragic, imo . . .

2. K&R
End corporate rights as if they are individual citizens. Health care IS a right not a privilege. Stop the criminals in the White House now before they do any more damage to this precious country. :dem:

3. It's getting as bad as the "Dean vs. Clark" wars of 2004
Those were downright hysterical.

I wish people would quit focusing on the horse race and take a closer look at the horses.

11. Lydia, I think it's worse now.
And boy howdy, do I remember the Deaniacs v. the Clarkies! I thought that was about as bad as it could get.

But I really think this is worse. YMMV.

9. but she cried.
Swear to god these silly tiffs are manufactured to keep their faces in the media and distract from substantive issues. It's like Rosie vs. Trump - good (as in ANY) publicity for both of them.
