Nader Endorsed Edwards? That's Nice...

Kerry was never beloved by the Democrats, who picked him to win in 2004 and are bitter they got four more years of President Bush instead. The most recent Gallup Poll shows only 43% of Americans view him favorably.

"I'm surprised Obama didn't announce it at midnight, in Alabama," cracked a New York Democratic pol backing Edwards.

Endorsements can be dicey.

Edwards got a seal of approval last week from Ralph Nader, who is blamed by many Democrats for spoiling the 2000 election. Edwards never mentioned it.

Similarly, both Obama and Hillary Clinton kept mum when Cuba's Fidel Castro touted a Clinton-Obama ticket.

1. As someone just said on another thread, these folks are missing the point.
If the person who endorses also has resources to offer, as Kerry does with his email list and such, then that can be the more important boost than just someone's suggestion to vote for a candidate. He had something to offer a candidate, and any candidate would be lucky to get the resources he can give.

I bet they knew that too.

I think we're getting sour grapes here.

2. His EMAIL LIST?
You mean, handing over the email addresses of people who signed up on his site?

Yeah, very honorable.

The minute I read the email from Kerry endorsing Obama, I unsubcribed. So did my husband.

6. Did I say handing it over? No, I didn't say handing it over.
I don't know if he's handing it over. But if he's sending out emails endorsing Obama, and asking for funds FOR Obama, that's still a resourse.

I get Clark spam for Hillary. So?

8. So did I, and I'm a fan of John Kerry...
I'm not giving any money to Obama's campaign, and I don't want to be asked for any.

11. Sheesh
He didn't "hand it over". He sent e-mail to his list yesterday, and today Kerry's staffers forwarded an e-mail from the Obama campaign. There's no indication at all that we were all automatically added to Obama's list.

15. He sent out email for Obama
just as he did for probably 100s of candidates in 2006. I don't think he gave the list to Obama - he hasn't with anyone else. (ie he did not give all the MA records to EMK when he ran - he sent emails.

5. Kerry has a lot fewer subscribers today than he had before his announcement.
We've left in droves.

See ya, Kerry.

3. No fans of Nader here...
but I am still impressed by his tireless fight to expose corporate malfeasance. As far as an anti-corporate candidate...a Nader endorsement would be viewed as a very good thing. Too bad he has been trashed worse than Kerry here...or it might be a tie now?

7. Ralph Nader was right.
He warned that once the Democrats were elected, they would strangely start acting like Republicans, and there is no way to explain Pelosi's covering for the Bush Crime Family, the Democrats' repeated capitulations on funding the war/occupation, on Mukasey, on failing to get documents subpoenaed years ago, and so on and so on and so on . . .

That there is a bizarre and puerile hatred for the man is telling in itself.

14. Agreed.
I'm probably more familiar with Nader than most, having worked for GM/Chevorlet back when "Unsafe At Any Speed" put him in their crosshairs. John Z was the General Manager back then too - ironic. Too ironic for words.

Nader has been correct about a lot of things - earlier than most. Funny how he's been ahead of his time for over 40 years.
