...they go right through the looking-glass. As if international respect for our military isn't low enough, now we're paying protection money.

Pay off everybody in Iraq and BUY the damned oil.

Would have been a LOT cheaper!

Shit... we could have shoveled money out of B-52s and C-130s over the country and it would have been cheaper.

Paying the sheihks to placate their people, the anbar sheihks become wealthly and powerful and keep their tribes in poverty and under control. That way when an Iraqi kills a foreign fighter or another Iraqi we can conquer by pitting them against each other.

The problem will be when the Iraqis in Anbar succeed and decide to tackle US or the Mahdi Army or the Kurds...
