Planned Parenthood will BUY OUT your existing cell phone contract
Email I just received. I will be changing immediately!

Dear Planned Parenthood® Supporter:

Is it just us, or does it seem like we’ve become much more aware of how the little choices we make every day can add up to something greater? Even just deciding to walk instead of drive to the store, it’s just amazing how people are recognizing that each of our small, individual decisions can matter and affect real, positive changes.

So we’re writing to let you know about another choice you can make. In this case, a choice that will help support Planned Parenthood’s mission to provide safe and effective health care and medically accurate information for women and families all around the world.

Working Assets is proud to now offer
Planned Parenthood Wireless – a cell phone service through which 10% of all your monthly phone charges goes to Planned Parenthood Federation of America at no extra cost to you. You will get great wireless service and help a great cause, simply by making a conscientious choice about your cell phone company. This special offer for Planned Parenthood supporters is available through March 31.
Today, more than ever before, it’s our actions that will define what kind of people we are, and what kind of world we want to live in. By choosing Planned Parenthood Wireless, you’ll be helping to protect the right of women and families everywhere to make their own decisions about their health care and their lives.

Sincerely yours,

Cecile Richards
President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Laura Scher
CEO, Working Assets

P.S. – Working Assets is the progressive phone company that delivers quality phone service using the all-digital nationwide Sprint® network. Since 1985, Working Assets has raised over $50 million for progressive nonprofits, including $1.6 million for Planned Parenthood alone.

2. We switched from Sprint to Working Assets
and we're very happy with the service so far. And isn't it refreshing to know that a percentage of our monthly bill goes to support progressive causes!!

5. Oh damn.
We used to have WA until we moved, but we had to switch because we couldn't get any reception at our house.

6. That's odd...
I'm pretty sure WA uses the Sprint network...so if you can get reception via Sprint, you should get the same or better coverage via WA.

And I will say that since we've switched to WA we haven't had the service reception problems as with Sprint. Used to be very typical for my Sprint phone to always be "searching for service" only to switch me to roaming, even inside my own house...this has not happened since switching to WA. And I'm experiencing far fewer lost calls.

8. I like my phone service,
however in the future I will buy all of my long distance phone cards (I don't use them but I know people who do) from Working Assets and I may sign up for one of their credit cards.

9. Does Working Assets have phone cards that don't expire?
I use mine infrequently and usually just lose the minutes.

As for WA/PP, I have a discounted plan from Sprint(R) and I donate lots of money to PP.

11. I think something more hostile than this is happening to Lowes.
I have nothing but anecdotal evidence, but some of my right-wing acquaintances, the kind that send those right-wing spam e-mails without blinking an eye, very seriously said that I should avoid Lowes and stick to Home Depot. They gave me their anecdotal evidence of bad service at Lowes, to which I gave them my anecdotal evidence of bad service at Home Depot.

This is a very right-wing county, so it would be interesting to see if there is favoritism towards Home Depot based on race or politics, which these days, seems one and the same.

13. Here's a comparison of donations to the Repubs
http://www.buyblue.org/directory/96

Home Depot, Inc $448,500
Lowe's Companies, Inc $5,975

I check BuyBlue.org to make sure I'm not supporting companies who are working again us.

20. i try to check various stores & companies on buyblue
i would recommend people shop at their local bob's or al's hardware instead of the bigger chain stores--if at all possible. otherwise, bob & al will go the way all the other small businesses are going thanks to the walmart trend.

12. I had a problem with Working Assets
I used them for my land line long distance carrier. I sent them a check payment, and rounded off the dollar. I forgot to put in 60 cents, or whatever the difference is in the amount of the bill. IOW, the check was off by less than a dollar.

They canceled me, and sent me nasty letters, and didn't even send me a letter telling me how much I owed them due to my mistake.
