AZ will publicly release all Diebold voting machine electronic logs & files
Date: Jan 12, 2008 6:06 PM
Subject: - 'Daily Voting News' For January 12, 2008

Congratulations to the Pima Co Arizona Democrats, Republicans and
Libertarians who all worked together along with their attorneys and
Election Integrity activists like John Brakey and Jim March. This
group, and the countless other citizens of Pima Co, were able to
convince the County Board of Supervisors that they need to release all
of the data files from the Diebold system used by the county. Because
this group was "rock-solid" in their stance they now have all of the
files from the 2006 primary and general elections and the May 2006
Regional Transportation Authority election. These files will now be
scoured for evidence of election fraud or hacking. The information
obtained from them will be used to create a computerized tool that
will help elections officials and political parties nationwide
investigate their own local voting systems for security weaknesses
that could be used to rig elections. Great job!!

Looking at wildlife pics now. And the subjects are not too dissimilar from a typical county DEM meeting ;)

8. But have they been given the "Proprietary Code" that Diebold says it won't release
Files will say whatever the results said. The only way to know if there was fraud is by having the court protected "Proprietary Code" released and after all these years I am sure it has been "adjusted".

16. My ignorance prompts me to ask,
what would the "Proprietary Code" show that the database wouldn't.

17. The data base will show how the machine counted the votes
It will show who won and who lost according to the machine. The Proprietary Code will show how the machine is programmed. There has been the suggestion that some machines have been programmed to switch some votes. Maybe every fourth vote for a Democrat would get switched to Republican or some such. Getting the data would never show that, only how the votes were counted. To make it really simple, say a hundred people came to me and cast their vote with me just by telling me who they vote for. Fifty vote Democratic and fifty vote Republican but when I submit the official tally I say sixty were for Democrats and forty for Republicans That is what is recorded on official data records. Unless people were privy to what the hundred people actually told me no one would know the difference. That is what is wrong with touch screen machines, even those that preserve a "paper trail" unless you are given the paper to look over before the vote is tallied which doesn't happen. Optical scan machines on the other hand have an actual paper ballot that you fill out and just use the machine to count for you. Those paper ballots are always there to recheck the figures. With touch screen machines the only paper that can be recounted is a reprint of how the machine cast your vote and so it would match the machine and not necessarily your vote..Those data records would not be any more accurate than the original count...

11. My State too
Good to see - know its been a tough fight

We also have Clean Elections laws and more public financing then allot of states - maybe why we were abel to get more Democrats this past Election and have a Democrat Governor - but the Re-pug's are always trying things (ID, Etc...)

But Still remember JD (Big mouth) walking the county election halls - wonder how he lost? In a "Red" (not) State

Clean & Fair elections and we always win

18. But who watches the watchers?
How will it be known that what is released is complete, or that any hacking hasn't also cleaned up log files? Without source code, this is all nearly meaningless.

And with machines in the way, it's still not transparent.
