"Hey! Look at those big boats! Wonder what the hell they're doing here! Let's have a look!"

That combined with "hey, the chum in that box stinks so bad no fish is going to be interested in it, get rid of it, Ahmed" and you have the entire incident.

No wonder the Navy has backed away from this one in record time.

What the hell is a 'coalition warship'?

I think that this is U.S. propaganda to cover the fact that it is a U.S. warship supporting the immoral and illegal occupation of Iraq.

Of course, the bigger issue is that the U.S. really has no business operating warships within a hundred miles or so of Iran ... unless Bush is trying to provoke yet another war.
