Uh-oh, here comes the gun-control portion of the debate...
...but Hillary says that the "prevailing winds" may prevent extensive gun control laws. She just said she'd go after semi-automatic firearms, too, while still saying that she supports the Second Amendment.

3. Let me put it this way...
You cannot have registries and semi-auto bans and a Democratic Congress. We learned that the hard way back in 1994.

6. I'd hope the last 7 years of government actions would have pushed even the most hardcore

of the anti-gun people from any kind of registration.

7. The Gun-Lover Vote is a Write-Off This Time Anyway
She really has nothing to lose with the gun-lovers. None of them will vote for her anyway.
They don't like Edwards or Obama very much either.

4. She used the buzzword "assault weapons"
Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 11:18 PM by derby378
An "assault weapon," near as I can figure, is nothing more than a semi-automatic firearm with certain safety features that the gun-control movement feels have no place in civilian hands.

Edited to add: There is still no actual, universal definition of the term.

9. Well, guess what?
Some uninformed folks in the media were calling the Glock that Seung-hui Cho used at Virginia Tech last year an "assault weapon." So I guess we'd better be very concerned about that.

15. The uninformed will always be there, but the assault weapons ban was very specific.
THAT is what I think the code words had to mean. Regardless, gun control is a loser both for the Party and myself.

I was right 13 years ago when I was against this idiot bill. Expanding is the natural state of government.

23. Bingo - that legislation actually targets M1 rifles from WW2
My father-in-law, a survivor of the Bataan Death March, keeps one of those rifles at home. Under HR 1022, that rifle would be reclassified as an "assault weapon." Blows my freakin' mind.

29. Even so, the current bill would outlaw
any magazines over 10rd capacity for semi-auto pistols, just as the '94 ban did.

What a mess.....

Edited on Tue Jan-15-08 10:55 PM by riverdeep
Whenever a scenario of how we could possibly lose in Nov coming off the worst administration in history, gun control comes works its way in. At least they realize now it's political suicide, so they've made some progress.

12. I really wish the dems and anti-gunners would READ the AWB...
and realize it doesn't actually ban a *single* firearm yet causes gun owning independents to run away from them...

the AWB is like trying to ban street car racing by banning red paint or certain shapes of tire rims.

16. The Car Comparison Is Just Plain Wrong

People have a reason to wonder about and be concerned regarding those who think features like bayonet lugs, flash suppressors and 30-round magazines are necessary parts of a firearm.

And if you gun activists want to engage in your inevitable, quadrennial trashing of Democratic candidates, how about taking it back down to the Gun Dungeon? God knows things are fractious enough this time around without such blather.....

26. Um, did you read the title of the OP ?
In case you missed it, this was about a part of the debate that deals with Gun Control. Are you going to throw a hissy fit everytime a gun-related subject comes up elsewhere than the Gungeon and gun owners participate in said thread?

What on earth are you scared of?

"People* have a reason to wonder about and be concerned regarding those who think features like bayonet lugs, flash suppressors and 30-round magazines are necessary parts of a firearm."

Please......Link to any article about a murder in this country that was committed using a bayonet attached to a rifle?

Please.......Link to how many lives have been saved in the last 100 years in this country by banning flash suppressors?

Those people* seem to worry about the strangest things.

works like a charm.

P.S. use dark glasses if you shoot the "Dragon's Breath" shells at night.

God I like the versatility of the 12ga!
