Is An Edwards Surprise Looming In Nevada?
By: Blue Texan Tuesday January 15, 2008 7:00 am

"I'm relieved that Obama and Clinton have called off the dogs (though I'd like to see the key surrogates involved whacked). But has their bickering given Edwards new life in Nevada?
For the first time since polling began in the Silver State, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama has taken a slight lead over U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, and former U.S. John Edwards has come within shooting distance of the two front-runners."

"Of 500 likely Democratic caucus-goers surveyed, 32 percent favored Obama, 30 percent favored Clinton, and 27 percent favored Edwards."

"It's up for grabs. And this is impressive (emphasis mine):
Most surprising was Edwards' standing, which jumped 15 points from the last RGJ poll in November. Edwards was second in Iowa and third in New Hampshire and has not campaigned in Nevada since those contests."

"Think about that. He hasn't been there and he's surging. Compare and contrast his media coverage with Willard's or Grandpa's and ask yourself why he's not getting more press.
If Edwards wins Nevada, all bets are off. He'll get a big bump and 2 weeks of fawning press as the "Comeback Kid" before he returns to the state that he won in 2004. Stranger things have happened -- let's not anoint anyone just yet."

2. The deck is stacked against Edwards but I see him as the winner
because even with the press trying to marginalize him he continues to get stronger.

4. It's Nevada's turn to step in this thing and turn it on it's ear...
I hope they jump on it! Time for the anointed "front-runners" to receive a wakeup call!

11. If so, then our race looks like the repug race
doesn't it? I'm not saying that would be a reason for any nevada voters to vote for someone else, but the same headlines about the repug race would then be aptly applied to teh Dem race as well.

14. I mean the MSM can make the same claims
about the race being in 'chaos', and it would be dishonest to say that it hurts them but somehow helps Dems in general. Just sayin.

18. There is a difference.
The pukes have been marked by low voter turnout. The Dems have had record turnout. The Dems have had Indys voting with them nearly 2:1.

The gop is a divided party. Their winning candidates and three very different brands of repukism. Their base is fractured and they are trying to find the least bad of the bunch.

The Dems have three strong leaders. We are choosing from the best. They are for the most part united.

16. John and Elizabeth are putting those first who rarely get an opportunity to be heard...
It sure would have been easier to run the kind of campaigns that attract millions of dollars from the rich and powerful corporate interests.

Edwards is on the right side here.
