BULLSHIT: White House Tape Recycling May Have Erased Controversial Emails
TAPE RECYLING MY ASS....

The White House has acknowledged in a new court filing that it routinely recycled computer back-up tapes containing its e-mail records until October 2003, a practice that could mean that many electronic messages from the first two years of the Bush administration are lost forever.

The disclosure raises the possibility that the White House effectively erased e-mail related to some of the biggest controversies of the Bush administration, including the leak of a CIA officer's name, the start of the Iraq war and the CIA's destruction of interrogation videotapes.

1. Rosemary Woods lives!
This is BS. As someone pointed out on another thread on this topic, if the tapes were literally just reused, the data would be recoverable. My guess is that the backups were intentionally either destroyed or overwritten to DOD standards so the data isn't recoverable.

As the WaPo article you cite states, "Two separate statutes require the White House to preserve federal or presidential records." So this means they're in contempt of Congress. Again.

2. Sounds like complete bullshit, again.
One of these days a really big levee has to break for us in all of this rampant obstruction. The sooner the better.

3. I read the declaration.. and it raised a question...
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington published the declaration. It seems to only refer to backup tapes for the purpose of disaster recovery. What about the Presidential Records Act?

I find the claim that recycling backup tapes as being "consistent with industry best practices" somewhat specious, but putting that aside...

Recycling these tapes can't be consistent with the Presidential Records Act!

4. If true, it's further grounds for impeachment
