I mean if Barack gets the nom, and I hope to hell he does, the cocaine question is over with. Its been asked and answered. Out of the way. Its not an issue in the general.

Or am I just too tin-foil?

1. Of course it was.

In my mind, there is no doubt that it was brought up very early in the campaign to try to make it a non-issue in the GE should he win the nomination.

Better a known issue now than a surprise later.

7. I agree - indeed the dust up reversed black vote so now Obama has a heavy majority

5. LOL no kidding.
"Over with" only applies to Republicans. See: GWB, cocaine use, and drunk driving.

The time a Democrat got caught looking at his neighbor's paper on a 3rd grade math test is a VALID CAMPAIGN ISSUE that needs at least a series of attack ads to exploit and question the Democrat's ethics.

4. It was over with before it started b/c he'd already acknowledged it
However, I believe it was a planned attack.

6. The over-reaction to every perceived slight -whether real or imaginary- is not accidental.
It's a ploy, sure. But it won't stop the GOP Machine at all if he's nominated. Remember Billy Shaheen's interview answer when asked what the GOP might do? I think he understated what the GOP will hit him with.

8. Absolutely it was planned; look at all the surrogates who've
brought it up. And I'll wager it's not over.
It has been asked and answered, but that won't stop the rethugs from using it as best they can. I don't know what more they could wring out of it though.

13. That makes no sense because he didn't bring it up
since he's been campaigning except in response to smears.

14. I don't think it does either, but the angle the OP is going for is that
it was all part of Obama's master plan.

Unfortunately it hasn't been "answered." So far we have only what Obama wrote in his book to go on. Was his account a self-serving partial hang-out or the full story? The corporate media doesn't seem particularly interested in the story now; but, assuming Obama gets the nomination, will its lack of interest continue, especially if the Republican nominee raises questions in the general election?

The Republicans successfully turned John Kerry's heroic war record against him. Even if Obama's account of his drug use was full and accurate, do you really think the Republicans won't try to use it against him? And if Obama's account turns out to have been inaccurate or self-serving, don't think for a moment they won't be in full attack mode.
