During Bush*'s first recession he gave Americans $300. tax breaks
Now he wants to give $800. does that mean this recession that he and the Republicans created is three times worse than the first one they created?

11. "He" didn't give us anything. The Democrats in Congress fought for it.
Otherwise only those who didn't need it would've gotten it.

The Democrats in Congress are the ones who said that it had to benefit working people.

6. I think it's due to inflation :-)

8. well, for one thing, we no longer have an imaginary surplus to whiz away
and I still think it will be "up to" $800, meaning the poorer you are the closer you will get to $0.

Read my lips "more tax breaks for people making over $50,000 a year".

Is there really any better way to help the working class and the unemployed? Not according to Bush and the M$M.

9. Then the following year we had to pay it back !!!
This time we will probably have to pay it back double in 2009. I don't want the $$$ if I have to pay it back. Frankly, even though we are struggling, I would rather not have it at all if it meant the top few % would lose all there recent breaks. far more effective imo.

16. REBATE? Then having to pay it back the following year.....
Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 05:18 PM by GreenTea
JUST AS BUSH'S LAST REBATE BULLSHIT? Bush will give anything to stimulate the economy until he's out of office and long gone. Leaving the country with over ten trillion dollars in debt not even including the 800 billion of our taxes for corporations making of gobs of money in Bush's lie of a war in Iraq. All he wants to do is keep the economy patched up until he's out of office, This is republican ideology...tax cuts for the rich, tax dollars' for the wealthy and the corporations...but the working people should never expect a thing or ever count on the government for anything for their tax dollars....And Bush & the republicans will point their fingers at the democrats after the mess Bush and the republicans have created and Gush is long gone out of of office.

Disgusting lying, greedy, hateful cold-hearted republicans!

17. Doesn't borrowing to pay for this result in a hidden tax?
Especially if it leads to higher interest rates down the line?
