Kiron Skinner, associate professor of history and political science at Carnegie Mellon University, is co-author of the recently published book, The Strategy of Campaigning, which looks at the political careers of Ronald Reagan and Boris Yeltsin. Prof. Skinner co-wrote the book with three other authors, including current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She discusses the book with Marcus Mabry, international business editor at the New York Times and author of Twice As Good:Condoleezza Rice and Her Path to Power.

Seth Shulman, The Telephone Gambit: Chasing Alexander Graham Bell's Secret
Science and technology journalist Seth Shulman recounts the invention of the telephone and contends that Alexander Graham Bell stole the idea for the phone from Elisha Gray. Mr. Shulman presents a series of evidence arguing that Mr. Bell copied a caveat to a patent that Mr. Gray had formerly filed during his research on transmitting multiple telegrams. Seth Shulman presents his book at the Broadside Bookshop in Northampton, Massachusetts.

His analysis also includes an examination of the speech as a political treatise, a work of poetry, and an improvised sermon. This event was held at the Los Angeles Public Library.
