The 2007 energy bill spelled out energy efficiency requirements in no uncertain terms.

8. Mercury warning
CFLs contain mercury. It is a tiny amount, but its there. There's no problem unless you break one open. Disposal is also an issue. They should not simply be tossed in the trash like incandescent bulbs.

10. I used to by the standard bulbs by the case
The new bulbs don't blow out every two weeks. I replaced all the bulbs in my house in march and haven't had to replace a new bulb yet.

14. If you need candelabra bulbs try Ikea
Not sure what they have at Lowes but the ones at Home Depot aren't very strong.
