"All U.S. Troops Are Required To Endure Waterboarding As Part of Their Training"
This little gem was uttered by my wife's ultra-Repub freeper coworker. The woman has a comfortable "perfect" life, perfect family, perfect house, etc. - "I've got mine; the heck with everyone else" is her basic attitude. Big surprise, she listens to:

A) Sean Hannity
B) Rush Limbaugh

Oh well - that's the freeper fantasy world for you I guess -

:eyes: :eyes: :puke:

and you heard it from a vet. the closest comparable thing would be having to take off your mask in the CS chamber (get a load of tear gas in the face) thats the closest thing to torture we have to endure and its only for a second to understand what it feels like.

2. What a load of fantasy horseshit! If that were the case, you'd see recruiting suffer even more than
it is now!

Yeah, every person is uniform is an expert marksman, too (some couldn't hit the broad side of a barn).

I get such a kick out of the civilian mindset towards the military, at times...

3. Fortunately, the DI's hadn't thought of that when I went through boot camp.
But, I have no doubt, whatsoever, that they would have done it if they had.

7. I must be one of the lucky ones. I got through Basic and AIT w/o ever even seeing a water board.
Tell your wife that her co-worker is either a liar or an ignoramus.

8. This veteran has never been subjected to waterboarding.
That's not to say that it's never been utilized as training scenarios at SOA or SEAR at Ft. Bragg.

16. true
i have heard about some things, mostly stress positions and such but then again thats all they claimed to do at gitmo and abu, etc. Sears is some crazy stuff and have heard many stories, i wouldnt put it past them to do something like that. but def not in any form of "basic" training.

12. Load of Dingo's Kidneys
Maybe special forces units have that in their training, but among the things that she forgets:

1) Such training is inherently voluntary. Choosing against may wash them out of whatever it is they're training for, but it's still the individual's choice.

2) The trainee stll knows how many people his trainers have killed in the course of the training -- NONE. The Trainee knows his trainers are not actually trying to kill him, and if there is some accident he can count on swift medical intervention.

Prisoners who are waterboarded certainly don't make a choice to do so, and the can't be so sanguine about their captor's inclinations to go "too far".
