Israel may have to take military action against Iran: Bolton
Israel may have to take military action against Iran: Bolton
AFP
Published: Monday January 21, 2008

Former US ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said on Monday that Israel may have to take military action to prevent its archfoe Iran from acquiring an atomic bomb.

Bolton also said that further UN sanctions against the Islamic republic will be ineffective in stopping Iran's controversial nuclear programme which Israel and the US believe is aimed at developing a bomb -- a claim denied by Tehran.

"One can say with some assurance that in the next year the use of force by the United States is highly unlikely," Bolton told AFP on the sidelines of the Herzliya conference on the balance of Israel's national security.

"That increases the pressure on Israel in that period of time... if it feels Iran is on the verge of acquiring that capability, it brings the decision point home to use force," he said.

A senior Israeli security official said in reaction that "one should listen very closely to what Bolton has to say."

Somehow I doubt it. perhaps we could get SOMEONE into office who will tell Israel to SHUT THE FUCK UP. These asshats are going to send the earth into an all out nuclear war.

6. I want to tell them they are on their OWN.
I'd bet the farm their arms industry nets more than our Foreign Aid to them.

This is fair warning as to what happens in a THEOCRACY.

5. Shut the fuck up, Bolton!
The Israelis already said it directly to Condi's face back in 2006 that if the fuckers in the Bush administration wants to go after Iran, the US MILITARY is gonna have to do it!

Stop pressuring Israel to do your fucking dirty work!

And stop blackmailing Israel and manipulating the US Jewish community!

Asshole! :grr:

17. He's a wild-eyed PNACer and will continue to pressure Israel into dangerous & destructive actions.
He along with his other 'crazies' should be locked in a mental treatment facility, forever.

10. Bush will use US forces to defend Israel if attacked by Iran.
Bush has been very vociferous in his commitment that the US will come to the defense of Israel should Israel be attacked by Iran (even though there is no formal treaty or military alliance between the US and Israel requiring this). Now suppose Israel does attack Iran and then Iran counter attacks? Will that count as an "attack on Israel" by Iran giving Bush the go ahead to send the US military to the defense of Israel? Just asking.

JERUSALEM (AFP) - US President George W. Bush said Washington would defend its close ally Israel in the event of an Iranian attack, in remarks broadcast on Israeli army radio on Sunday.

"Whether there's an imminent attack coming, I don't think so," Bush said in excerpts of an interview with an Israeli television station to be aired in its entirety later in the day.

"If Iran did strike Israel... We will defend our ally, no ands, ifs or buts," he said.

Bush's statements came just days before he arrives in the region for his first visit since taking office in January 2001 and the first trip by a sitting US president since December 1998.

12. So That's Their Plan Huh.
The NIE thwarted their efforts here to such degrees that they could no longer push for war directly amongst the public, so now they are just gonna say "pssst, hey, Israel, YOU do it", and then jump in and claim defense of our Ally?

How friggin transparent.

fortunately for the Israelis, no doubt.
