44. Because presidential politics sucks
he can and is doing more without it. Think of all the bullshit a president would have to deal with. (not Bush of course, but a real president) Without that burden he can focus on the issues that matter to him.

7. Put a fork in Al ... he's done ... get the fuck out of the way.
He ignored the highest call. After the election he'll be another ex-VP (nobody) His popularity was only propped up on the hopes he would run. Now that he has turned his back on this country, I don't want to see him again.

11. Good God. Is being President the only thing he can do?
He's done a whole lot to educate the world about the environmental disasters that are looming, and if he takes up this cause, too, more power to him. He's established himself as a respected statesman.

I wanted him to run, too, but I respect his decision and even understand it. He would not have been our President Savior. I think he can do more good from the outside.

What he is doing now is answering the highest call. If you truly think being president of this country is the highest call, you are seriously deluded.

36. I'm not mad at Al because I know what the B.S. machine would have done to him.
Not only that but...

Look at all the suspicious crap going on with the Caucasus.

Look at how they are ignoring Edwards.

Those bastards would rev into overdrive if Al had decided to run.

Yes, I believed for the longest time that Al would save us.

Guess it's up to Edwards now.

Barring that, we are TOTALLY screwed.

40. good luck with that.... ("I don't want to see him again.")
I somehow doubt the Noble committee was thinking about the US presidential campaign. So get ready to turn your tv off whenever he is on, or to skip pages in magazines/newspapers. Al Gore isn't going anywhere. He has parlayed his ex VP position unlike anyone before him - and certainly doesn't fit the box that you seem to chose to put him in.

8. A few years ago, Al and Tipper Gore brought out a book about families.
They both wrote it...and Tipper took some wonderful pictures of the families they encountered.

And...there were same-sex families. Families, with 2 dads or 2 moms, with their children. And it was clear that the Gores thought that those families were just as honorable, just as loving, as the hetrosexual ones.

All I can say is: thank you Al and Tipper Gore. And thank you, Al, for your remarks.

And in total agreement with his words. As I wrote in his thread, love should be rewarded not penalized in this world. Thank you Nobel laureate Gore for being such an integral part of the American and human debate and standing up for all people.
