Disabled-friendly homes pledged



DISABLED people will soon get special facilities built into their government homes, MPs heard yesterday.

All new government homes being given to the handicapped or families with disabled members will have facilities such as ramps and wider doors, said Housing Minister Shaikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa

The proposal submitted by parliament foreign affairs, defence and national security committee vice-chairman Abdulla Al Dossary has been backed by the ministry and parliament's public utilities and environment affairs committee.

Shaikh Ibrahim, who was present at the weekly parliamentary session as a minister for the first time, backed another proposal out forward yesterday by Al Asala bloc urging the ministry to grant loans based on the Islamic Shariat.
