Firefighter: Giuliani 'ran like a coward on 9/11'
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 08:02 AM by meegbear
Families of firefighters killed in the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center rallied in Orlando Tuesday in anticipation of the state's upcoming Republican primary. Unfortunately for Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, the firefighters are not in his corner.

"We want America to know that (the Giuliani campaign) is lying to America and to the American pubic," said Jim Riches, a deputy chief in the New York Fire Department, "telling all of Florida that the New York City Fire Department backs him, when that's another lie."

Firefighters and their families vowed to dog the former New York mayor at all of his Florida campaign stops because the state figures prominently in Giuliani's big-state primary strategy. The protesters think that Giuliani was aware that firefighters who responded to the World Trade Center attack were carrying defective radios and did not hear the order to evacuate.

"He didn't prepare us before, during, or after," says Riches.

3. Quite a FLIP in the political climate
Back in the day in my VVAW protests, loyal government-provided firefighters would probably have sided with the construction workers against the dirty hippie commie-types and veteran protesters.

Today it's the NYFD going against their former government figurehead.

I don't think this permanent republican majority thingy is workin' out too good.

7. 141 of their members died because Giuliani sold them out......
with a sweet heart deal to one of his radio/contributor buddies. Rudy ran while people died because of his incompetence. Who the hell builds a command bunker at the site of a terrorist target. World Trade was bombed in 93 and Rudy puts a command bunker back there. He never fixed the radio problem and issued them any way. How many more people could have they saved had they got the call to get out? We may never know but Rudy's politics and jack boot style killed many people that day. How many died because Rudy lied? Rudy's a zero not a hero.

13. I'm talking about in the second tower who could have gotten out..
had they heard the call to get out. The radio call went out several times but was never acknowledged.
