I know lots of Democrats and they definitely do not consider themselves as being the in the same political realm as Repiglicans. And vice versa.
No, they are not one in the same party. However, the Democratic party leadership, which has been vested with the authority of the (Democratic) voters has decidedly lurched to the DLC's idea of the "middle way". This is a position that neglects the interests of the party's historical constituency, primarily labor and the working class. It is similar to the Repiglican party in that the puppeteers who control the Republicans have effectively managed to buy the Democratic leadership.
In essence, both parties now dance to the corporate anthem. The Repiglicans remain true to their constituents (for the most part), but the Democrats are no longer true to their constituents.
So the two are not the same party, but they are controlled by the same interests. Until a party emerges that can honestly defend the weakest among us we will continue to attack those elements within the party that have abandoned us.
I am amazed that there is no real analysis of the fact that Mark Penn represents the US Chamber of Commerce, an organization that is committed to destroying the populist message, is Hillary's pollster.
