Give them a lot more money by instituting single payer health care.

That gets a huge monkey off the back of business. It frees up their obligations to retirees. It cuts their labor cost by maybe 20%.

2. It just seems like a no-brainer. How many billions does GM pay in healthcare every year? I think 5
billion dollars. Imagine how competitive a lot of our businesses would get.

3. Big mistake.
Why not give the money to the people who need it, instead of to the corportations to fatten their CEOs' bonuses a little more? This makes absolutely no sense to me, and smacks of anything but a stimulus to the economy.

In somewhat related news...Ford is offering buyouts to half its U.S. workforce. Talk about screwing over your retirees... http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061129/AUTO01/611290416/1148

4. Um ........
...... you may wanna rethink your position.

Bidniss gets competitive with no loss of jobs and no gouging of the people.

The people get HEALTH CARE.

Every economist in the world says this is a good idea. It goes nowhere in the US because of lobbyists for Pharma, Big Med, and Insurance Companies.

6. The war
End it

Plus, we pay taxes in lieu of employers paying insurance. Put the insurance companies out of business and put their employees to work managing the single payer system. Bottom line ..... everyone is better off. people pay less for better care and big bidniss saves the health care costs.

I don't know why none of your guys ever suggest this. Oh yeah ..... you guys are just about tax cuts only.

7. In that case, it's not government healthcare that is helping businesses, it's ending the war.

8. No, that's not true
Ending the war is ending the war. What we do with the money saved is what's helping business.

When we end the war we could do many things with the money. No doubt your guys want to give it to rich people. I prefer that we give it to society to make actual persons' lives better.

11. "My guys" I guess meaning libertarian-leaning people?
Well, "my guys" want to end the war and allow people to keep the money that would have been wasted, regardless of their income.

My point is that you aren't saving businesses any money by spending their money somewhere else.

9. If I didn't have healthcare and healthcare related expenses taken out of my paycheck
I would bring home about $700 more a month.
I could afford gas!

10. You wouldn't get all of your deduction back ......
You'd have to pay some out in taxes to pay for the single payer health care.

But you would still net out ahead of where you are now.

12. So, only individuals
and not businesses will have to pay for the single payer health care plan.
