Who Said Freddy's Dead? ROTFLMAO
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/01/who_said_freddys_dead.html

Ok, it's from "real-murky-politics", but the right just won't let Fred die.

"The Republican race is coming into focus. Well, sort of. If John McCain can win the Florida primary on January 29, he'll be the clear front-runner heading into Super Tuesday a week later.

But Florida is hardly a sure thing for McCain. Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney are contesting the state heartily. Plus, Florida is a closed primary, meaning Independents can't participate -- and McCain polls far worse in contests where only Republicans can vote.

If McCain loses in Florida, the Republicans may well be headed to a deadlocked race and convention. And history teaches us that the likeliest candidate to emerge in that scenario is someone like Warren G. Harding: the prototypical, less-than-stellar candidate to which conventions turn when the going gets rough.

This year's Harding? Believe it or not (are you sitting down?), despite the fact that he's withdrawn from the race, is Fred Thompson."

<sung to the tune of Those Were the Days>

"Mister we could use a man like Warren Harding again"

Watching the Repub Party implode is a beautiful thing, but like Bob Dylan sang;

"and I hope that you die, and your death will come soon,
I'll follow your casket, all afternoon
and I'll watch as your lowered,
into your death bed
then I'll stand over your grave
'til I'm sure that your dead"

this is definitely the time to kick that party when it's down.

2. Thompson has a chance? Someone wake him and tell him!
1. I don't buy this for a minute. Conventions no longer have the importance that they did in the past. Modern politics are a big business and both races will be 100% decided before the convention.

2. Its a fallacy to believe that McCain is currently the front runner. He has 33 delegates compared to Mitt's 48. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/scorecard/#val=R

McCain's front runner status is merely an after effect of a lazy press corps not wanting anything to interfere with their pre-written greatest political comeback story.

3. Where have you gone, old Fred Thompson
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
Woo-ooo-ooo.
What's that you say, Tweety Matthews?
Aqua Velva Man has gone away?
Hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey

4. It's says a lot about your party if
this is your savior.

Perhaps 2008 is the year we finally put that lousy bastion of racist, bigoted, "only the wealthy matter", "greed-is-good" wingnuts, out of it's misery.
