General concern about politicians and elections

I'm more than a bit upset at how little our Democratic Congress is handling legislation. I see them over and over again compromising democratic principles (yesterday giving up on food stamps for example while supporting raising the limit for conforming mortgages to 700K).

The only things that they have been faithful to is the explicit items which they enumerated in their plan for the first 100 days (or whatever the time period it was). I've had difficulty taking any politician on faith before, but I expected more of the democratic Congress.

At this point what I really want from any politician before they get my vote is a blueprint in detail about what they are going to do and when they are going to do it. I realize that they might not succeed but I need more than experience or hope or faith.

Anyone else having a crisis of confidence?
