"Sharing God's Bounty"
Written by Elizabeth Bishop, Senior Internet News Producer
Sharing God's Bounty is a food program, that more people are turning to than ever before. Dinners are carried to the guests, just like any fine restaurant. Back in the kitchen they like to say, "we served dignity here. it just comes with a hot meal."
"The folks that come and eat with us are our guests. They're just like the guests in our own home," said founder Jeannie Bastion.
Bastion and some friends figured they could find enough volunteers and raise enough donations to feed the hungry a hot meal on Tuesday nights at St. Philomene School.
"We said, 'Think we can do this at our parish? What can we do for the poor? What can we do for the working poor in the neighborhood?'" Bastion remembered.
Bishop Quinn blessed that first meal and 48 dinners were served. but no one really knew how long they could keep doing it. The line of guests on Tuesday nights gets longer every year.
