how will you spend your tax rebate check?
Edited on Fri Jan-25-08 03:07 PM by shireen
What a windfall! Up to $600 for singles, $1200 for couples, $300/kid extra! :wow:

Will you stimulate the economy?
Or tuck it away in savings?

:wtf: Does Congress think we're that stupid?

3. I plan to invest it in a short term CD
Assuming, of course, I actually get one (I got some nice bonuses this year; I think I am just above the threshhold for a "rebate.") That way, when I have to pay it back to the government (like the last "rebate") I might actually have something left.

The phrase bread and circuses keeps coming to mind....

4. Neither. I had a ceramic floor installed in my kitchen and charged it
to an account that gave me 12 monts no interest.no payments, but the $1,100 bill is due in May. I'll just pay that bill.

5. Well, it's only a loan
so I'll bank whatever is left over after taxes in order to repay it in 2009.

Or maybe I'll make some more Kiva loans with it. Whatever. Wally's isn't getting it, that's for damned sure.

13. An extra 500-600 dollars gets swallowed up pretty quickly.
What I mean is I'll put it in my checking account like a paycheck, and it will be spent on normal things.

Nothing special or stimulating.

This will only cover a fraction of the cost. But it will help pay down the bill.

10. Bills for the most part - largely veterinary bills
we got a cat from the SPCA two weeks ago who seems to be a veterinary money pit.

He's a very sweet cat but that money has to come from somewhere. *sigh*

He needs very expensive food too.

Good thing he's already stolen my heart. :loveya: LOL

20. If I get one, you mean
I never got the last one. It was just a deduction from my income tax.

If I were to get one, I would spend it sensibly, paying off bills. Anything else would be silly.

23. Probably loan it out via Prosper
Depending on what baby expenses are like at the time, we may not need it, but others might, so it still helps boost spending and makes us some more money while we're at it.

25. I'm gonna
get me a shotgun and kil all the whities I see. (no seriously, that was only the first thing that came to mind). I'm gonna go to my bank and buy 1200.00 worth of quarters in rolls at $10.00 each, then I'm gonna take the quarters and look for silver ones, I'll keep them and give the rest back to the bank. I figure if I do this, I might be able to double my rebate, whoooppeee, in the first month.

26. guess i forgot to chime in as well ... it will be swallowed by bills. nuthin' but bills
The Idiot wants us to go shopping, just like he told us to do after 9/11.

I feel kinda insulted that this is their idea of a partial solution. Throw money at the little people, and watch them scamper around from store to store. What I really want to see are tax increases on that wealthiest 0.1% of the population that have been robbing us (albeit, legally) for the past 7 years. Y'know, people like those CEOs who earn huge bonuses for being utter failures. I want to see that extra tax revenue invested in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. I want it to create good-paying JOBS.

We have a duty to make this country, and this world, a better place for future generations. Otherwise, as a progressive society, we would be hopeless failures.

28. Three of us, two of get to decide how to spend it.
I'll pay subjects. That, and transportation and other incident research costs.

Gotta have people to conduct my experiments "on" ("with" might be a better preposition). Language processing, and non-invasive.

The money for my kid will go into his education fund. My wife can do what she wants with her dollop o' rebate.

Cause I've been holding on that step...just kidding...

Maybe I'll adopt some with the refund money, that way when the next refund comes along I get more...so the short answer is I'll invest it.
