A note of thanks to the VFW members and other vets that post here

I just returned from a funeral of a World War II vet. He was buried with full military honors. Fourteen wonderful gentlemen came to the funeral home and delivered a final tribute. They placed a poppy on the vet saluted him one by one and left for the cemetery where they honored him with a 21 gun salute, taps and a flag folding. These gentlemen did this on their own time out of the goodness of their hearts. It was so moving to see them standing there at attention with an occasional tear rolling down a cheek as the bagpiper played Amazing Grace and march off.

Too all of you who perform this service to the families, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love each and every one of you. The daughter of the vet, coalminersdaughter, cmd

But a decent burial is about all the VFW will do for a vet. They're a right wing organization who teated the Vietnam vets with destine and are doing little to help those Vets who are currently being mistreated by our government. However ,my hat is off to those ,who by their own good grace, Honor those who have fallen.:patriot:

I was surprised that about half the men there were Vietnam vets. I understand what you are saying.
