DU cults of personality
All of these DU cults of personality are really getting old - and I'm not just talking about the ones going on over in GD-Prim.

At one time it was the Big Dawg Cult.

Then there was the Cult of Al

Remember the Byrdies (must have caught the avian flu)

Can you think of any others? I'm all out.

7. If you can't spell it, use the google.
K-U-C-I-N-I-C-H

If I can do it, you can. I'm a bad speller to begin with and whacked out on flu medicine to boot.

6. I'm still in the Big Dog cult
Mind you, I'm part of the breakaway dissident group convinced he was replaced with a pod-Bill from outer space.
But on the whole, I'm still in the Big Dog's cult

8. The Deaniacs - can't forget them from 2003
Although, I must say, a lot less 'cultish' than some of the present candidates'.

9. The media figures. Keith, Jon, etc. Basically they're all opportunistic snakes
They'll turn on you in a heart beat.

They don't mean what they say, they're delivering an audience to the advertisers, that's all.

10. What's strange is that so few apparently even comprehend the meaning of it.

I've heard at-risk teen-aged girls speak of rock stars with more insight, erudition, and perspicacity than (alleged) adults speak of Presidential contenders here on DU.

I'm personally VERY interested in each of them, but this has become the WORST place to have discussions of policy differences. Sad.

16. Policy differences?
Hell I thirst the thirst of a thousand thirsty men in the desert for a good discussion of issues and the future direction of the party. A cogent strategy for fixing this country would be nice.

Sadly, I think Americans are still far too media-driven to do anything more than what they are told to do via marketing. No one wants to do their homework and few want to truly think for themselves.

15. I never got the Wesley Clark infatuation
he seems nice enough.
I have concerns over hs use of depleted uranium in Kosovo among other war issues, though I do give him credit for facing Amy Goodman and taking the tough questions

But I never found him particularly inspiring and the way people here talked about him, you'd think he was electoral gold for 2008, rather than a guy who won one primary in 2004

18. the "Cindy speaks for me" people,
there were a few weeks where everyone had "Give 'Em Hell, Harry" avatars for Harry Reid. Howard Dean was huge here when we were fighting the establishment to get him to head the DNC. There's still a faction in love with John Kerry.

I'm not saying any of these were bad - but the position on the ivory tower where these people were placed was and is a bit too high!
