As the cards fall in Pukesville, one theme seems to be taking shape: Republicans are looking for a candidate who is willing to act like a Democrat sometimes.
It's difficult to list the criteria in order of importance, but in order to get the Puke nomination this year, one must have a demonstrable tendency to support abortion rights, oppose torture, question war, oppose racial bigotry, speak truth, or otherwise protect the Constitution every once in a while (etc).
What the Pukes are really looking for is big-time a flip-flopper. They're looking for somebody who acts like a Democrat every once in a while, if only for political expedience.
This is not to say that Democrats are flip-floppers; it's that a Puke candidate simply cannot get the nomination this year unless the general population of Puke voters is convinced that that candidate has a tendency to flip back and forth between the issues that seem to define both parties.
This is driving the hardcore Nazis (Free Republic types) crazy because the more they attack a particular Puke candidate based on his Democratic tendencies, the more the general population will warm up to that candidate.
Ironically, if John McCain gets the Puke nomination, it won't be because he's seen as a straight talker; it's because his opponents have managed to convince the general Puke population that he's just the opposite.
