My employer does a "Shadow Day" where students from a local high school come in and get to spend a couple hours with someone who works in a field in which they are interested. Then the company buys everyone lunch and we all eat together.
So I'm with this group of five students and the conversation turns to politics. Two points became very clear very fast. They were all absolutely ecstatic that they would be 18 before the general election and have the opportunity to boot the republicans out.
Secondly, none, NOT ONE of them had any interest whatsoever in joining the military to advance the cause of *'s war. In fact one of the students told about how she'd come right out and finally told the recruiter who was calling her home to "fuck off". They were all sick of seeing the recruiters at school, and they all thought the current recruiting commercials on TV were pretty stupid. (That turned into a conversation about how some commercials are so bad they make you actively avoid the product.)
