I think I figured out republican strategy
they are planning something to steal the election as usual and that is why they are presenting this freak show instead of real candidates.

6. can it really happen three times?
I certainly hope not. Of course, those electronic voting machines make me wary. I am glad to be voting absentee (I just hope it gets counted). Like I said before, the record primary turnout has me hopeful. We can overwhelm them...strength in numbers!

12. Good point.
hope everyone is ready for it this time. And I don't know if its going to come down to hanging chads. We could very well have the election snatched out from under us by those electronic voting machines. Do you know that Diebold makes ATMs and all of those machines produce detailed receipts? Why can't their voting machines be so reliable? Hmm, I wonder...Oh yea, they are a bought and paid for Republican corporation. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0828-08.htm

3. Reality trumps the absurd. Those are the real candidates. It's
the best they can do. Who else could they run, DeLay? George Allen?

13. Those are the very archetypes of the rightwing id
Why W was such a cult figure - he fits all four of those:
1> irrational
2> racist
3> belligerent
4> fundie wacko

The whole sausage -
with extra condiments on top.

16. Half of the GOP leadership are under investigation...
...and the other half are, by and large, completely unacceptable to the American public beyond their home state.

Look, these things happen. With the exception of Edwards, I felt the same way about our candidates in 2004. Sometimes you get diamonds, and sometimes you get lumps of coal. The problem for the GOP is that their normal crown-the-king-before-the-first-vote strategy didn't work this time around because all of their first picks were politically unviable for various reasons.

4. They can plan all they like...
I do not believe we'll let them get anywhere near it this time, or ever again...

Too many people (and I include Republicans here) are fed up with the state of the country, and will vote big time for change...

We will give them that change...

10. I'm not sure
Looks like the Neocons see a really bad chance to win this time out to me. Looks like they are throwing a Bob Dole at the Dems, hoping the complete Bush collaspe waits 1 year and then they can go hard for 2012 with a sitting Democratic president with a health care crisis, military loss and a terrible economy.

14. Yep. That's what it looks like to me.
But also I fear the air of inevitability of a Democratic win. Do we truly have it in the bag? And what about Congress?
