Then and only then will he be able to do something about the extreme expense of healthcare in this country. Failing that he could just open up a healthfood store and do what he can.

Are you serious - todays doctors take the oath of the hypocrite - money trumps life.

Sorry to tell you but no American trained MD has taken the Hippocratic oath in decades. They don't use it any more because it is considered irrelevant.

Seems like everytime I tune into CNN, there's another new drug or other big pharma spot on. Yep, Dr. Guptha will tell us all...all that big pharma is paying him to say.

Unless they spend time in a walk-in clinic or emergency room. I think he is just ignorant of life at ground level. He has never been poor. Without real information how can he diagnose the problem.

I will withhold judgment until I see it but If the interviews are mostly with other doctors he is wrong from the start.

Most doctors borrow money for medical school and come from our communities. The fact that he's a son of immigrants suggests that he should be way more aware of medical care problems for the poor.

On our campus, the only faculty where car dealers hold displays for high end vehicles is the Medical Faculty. The majority of our medical students come from the same communities as other students.

I have always felt that medical students need social sciences courses more than most other students. Most are greedy and inhumane - all they want is the good life complete with free trips and dinners from big parma. They should not be allowed near people.
Let me be fair - a minority do good work helping the poor. Further the official Medical Associations are usually led by scumbags.

They do not deal with money. They leave it up to receptionists and nurses working in their office to filter out the people with no money to pay. That is what I meant by insulated. They do not have to personally tell anyone that they cannot receive treatment Thats what the girl at the desk is for.

I don't know about Dr. Gupta but most doctors, Regardless of background, Become cut-off from reality and less than compassionate to their patients. Some even despise their patients for their weakness.

It must be a rerun. It had some good points. It had stories of people trying to get care from their reluctant insurance companies and one man who would probably die because he couldn't get care (he had no insurance) soon enough for cancerous tumors. But I didn't watch the whole thing.

I'll watch tonight. Bet they'd never show this in prime time.

He did make some good points, but there was an awful lot of plagiarism from MMs documentary. He continued pushing the line about high taxes, never mentioned the common good and made excuses for his friends from big Pharma.

I'm betting this was done because Michael Moore exposed him and CNN as lying corporate hacks. I'd love to see MMS take on Gupta's documentary.

Rather than attempting to get at the issue by vigorously examining those who profit from the current system, he softly suggests that perhaps they have a lot of money invested in the current way of thinking, and then he further buttresses the soft-ball approach by including "You and Me" in the list of suspects as to why health care is broken. There will always be people who live unhealthfully, so putting "You and Me" up there as an equivalent of a source of problems like a health insurance company or a pharmaceutical firm is unfair simply because nobody had the choice of being sick even if they lived healthfully, while insurance company executives routinely choose to deny care to pad their profit margins at the expense of patients who need money for care.

has to be the biggest drug pusher on the planet! The Pharma Corp. depend on him. He disgusts me....as he's always pushing a new drug...that's barely been tested, yet is approved by the FDA (Federal Death Agency). WE are the test subjects! (my father was a Doctor and received LOTS of perks, gifts and trips from the Big Pharma companies. He dispensed much of it from his home office in a rural community and the salesmen loved him and lavished him!) If I had only KNOWN the buzz I could have gotten from the LARGE jugs of red codeine cough medicine.........oh boy....nevermind.
