If FOX wants to stifle free speech and not allow political ads during the Super Bowl, then I won't be watching. I'm sure there will be all sorts of humorous ads featuring animals and scantily clad women hawking all sorts of alcoholic beverages, auto insurance companies, and soft drinks. God forbid that Joe Sixpack should see something that reminds him that we're in an election year, and makes him think. Heaven forbid that some lowbrow Limbaugh listener should get upset because they see a Hillary or Obama ad.

Maybe I'll check out the Puppy Bowl for a few minutes.

1. The NFL is merely something that happens between Budweiser ads.

Frank, that is.

Who knows what his heirs feelings on this pressing issue are.

I'd insist that you address the issues raised in my OP but I won't be around to reply, since I'll be watching the game

name, a bit of knowledge I'd managed to live without for 60 years. Enjoy the game.

terrible." to every e-mail address in the state government agency I work at, then tried to cancel it.
Not a good move.

3. I don't think I can avoid it
#2 son is having a huge Super Bowl Party. We're the ones with the giant HDTV, so we're popular on game days. He's in the kitchen cooking ribs, making casseroles and setting up his keg of home made beer. Fortunately, he has really nice friends who will clean up after themselves.

I can probably hide out in my room for most if it. It's less about the ban on political ads as it is about my total lack of interest in football.

4. Why did you favor censorship during all the previous Super Bowls?
Political ads have never been broadcast during the Super Bowl.

Not saying that's right, just saying that it's not a new policy.

5. Our local station broadcasting the Super Bowl will be running ads for both Obama and Clinton
It may be that they can only be shown in local markets, not nationwide.

10. censorship?
Give me a break.

The lack of political ads during the game is about marketing. Who the hell wants to see political ads during a football game?

15. just one question
who owns Fox and the NFL?

If it is not the government then private individuals or organizations own them therefore they have the right to determine what is and what is not shown on their network during their games. Do you really think they care of you dont watch the game? Plenty still will and the ads will make them money. thats what it boils down too, what will make them money, political ads wont, beer ads will.

Tom Petty was OK. He's competent but not exciting.
