Forget The Coup Talk For A Moment, The Generals Are Sending A Message Here !!!
For this to come out in this fashion, I believe signals just how worried these guys are about their commander-in-chief. Usually we find out about these "early retirements" after the fact. We later find out (sometimes) the why's and wherefore's if they choose to do interviews and write books.

This feels different. It feels like they are getting together to oppose something truly dangerous and irrational. It feels like a warning.

Can anybody else speak to this? What I know of military culture, is pretty minuscule.

6. From Sy Hersch's April 2006 Article !!!
<snip>

The House member said that no one in the meetings “is really objecting” to the talk of war. “The people they’re briefing are the same ones who led the charge on Iraq. At most, questions are raised: How are you going to hit all the sites at once? How are you going to get deep enough?” (Iran is building facilities underground.) “There’s no pressure from Congress” not to take military action, the House member added. “The only political pressure is from the guys who want to do it.” Speaking of President Bush, the House member said, “The most worrisome thing is that this guy has a messianic vision.”

Some operations, apparently aimed in part at intimidating Iran, are already under way. American Naval tactical aircraft, operating from carriers in the Arabian Sea, have been flying simulated nuclear-weapons delivery missions—rapid ascending maneuvers known as “over the shoulder” bombing—since last summer, the former official said, within range of Iranian coastal radars.

Maybe that's what the Generals and Admirals are witnessing too.

9. I put this all into pre-WW1 and how things sort of worked.
We have this mess of bad leaders, many thinking they have God on their side and what will be with be, profits from arms, nationalist running crazy, leaders who are zealots besides the God thing, social revolution going on all over the world, power grabs and pay backs for things done or thought done, and they are all coming together. We will all be in Passchendaele if we do not get a hold of it soon. Just as many Generals thought the build up and going to war then was crazy also. It did not seem to worry the rulers, who were so bad, and so many seemed to never have seen what was right in front of them. And the well-off of the ruling societies danced to the end. So we are driving to the end I guess. A 200 year old society can fall as fast as a 900 year old one did just as a 300 year old one die. Bush has not made this mess but sure seems to added to it. Does martial law pop up in your mind at all? Is that sp. right?

10. I worry what the Chinese and the Russian's will do
you know they have to be worried with what is happening. Not too many countries leaders really want the start of another world war which bombing Iran will surely be. Russia can do us much damage in a very short amount of time
The only thing we have going for us is the fact that most of the people's of the world view us Average Joes as good honest people who really don't want to bring them harm. they also know our prez and v-prez is nuts

11. the gopigs are terrified...
it seemed from the getgo that the entire charade was staged with the domestic US audience in mind-911 killed less then 3000 people all told. On a busy weekday morning 4 jets left major travel centres with barely handful of passengers each, and the normal 50k people in the WTC towers was vastly reduced from normal for some reason...even the plane which hit pentagon carefully struck the reinforced part which was under re construction, rather then the biz as usual sections; as if the terrorist planners again were trying to keep fatalities down...this aspect of 911, which has provoked comment btw, still remains one of the oddest aspects of 911 - 25000 people or more could easily have been killed. The gopigs around bush didn't 'arrange' 911, but they knew of and were prepared for it (LIHOP) while insisting that the death count be kept reasonable-if 30 thousand people were killed, even bush probably unable to control violent US reaction! But the present situation has gotten desperate for the bush pigs, too much has excaped notice though plainly visible...and madman antics threatening war against a real military power like Iran must APPEAR sincere even if only more charade(?)....someone must be playing games with the gopigs (the entire story threatening to burst out) by taking their fake threats serious, and putting them in deeper mess!
LOL!

13. It's remarkable, and all the more so because the General Staff
Edited on Sun Feb-25-07 05:12 PM by Morgana LaFey
had already been purged of those who weren't inveterate Yes Men. IOW: these are the loyal ones who are objecting!

I would also say -- the Military, the CIA, and various others in government have been doing what they could for several years now, leaking important information to try to counter this madman's actions. And Seymour Hersch has been right there, with incredible access to a goodly number. But he's not the only one.

14. Anyone else as creeped out as I am
over those Laura Bush commercials for Ready.gov? Saw one last night and again this morning, and, while getting your family prepared in case of disaster seems like plain common sense, I had this sick feeling that she knows more than we do about what's in store for us. Her two dimensional quality in the ad (which was exactly the way George W. looked in Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911 -- very sinister), and stiff little smile at the end, made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

15. Watch out for top secret leaks to get out to the media....
soon from both the Pentagon and the U.K. Defense dept. on what may be going down with Iran. If Iran get's a heads up on plans, obviously they won't come to fruition. The State dept will be screwed basically.
People like Seymour Hersh might be getting some brown manilla envelopes dropped off at the office.
