Kucinich: "The Incident Did Not Happen"
Kucinich: "The Incident Did Not Happen"
Submitted by davidswanson on Mon, 2008-02-11 14:45. Congress | Elections | Impeachment
By David Swanson

I spoke with Congressman Dennis Kucinich because a rumor was gaining traction that:

"Before the Nevada primary, Dennis was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — AIPAC. They told Dennis that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives. Kucinich threw them out of his office."

According to Kucinich, "The incident did not happen."

1. Dennis is an honest man - he would've
told David if it had happened, no matter the consequences.

K&R for the truth.

And Dennis still needs our support:

4. I'll take apologies here from those who excoriated me for questioning this story
Just kidding ... but more proof that ideology trumps rationality whenever an unsourced rumor matches their wishes and world-view.

11. That story fit my world view fairly well...
...and wasn't passing the smell test.

Glad to realize my nose still works at times.

5. Thanks
It's great the story wasn't true. Does anyone else find it sad that we have lost so much faith in Pelosi it almost seemed like the counterpunch story could be true?

I really love that last paragraph of the article

I also believe that the U.S. Congress would be a much worse place without Kucinich in it, and I encourage everyone to support his reelection campaign right away at http://kucinich.us

9. If Obama and Hillary are agents of change they should put in a good word for Kucinich
It does not matter what they think of Dennis's policy.

The forces that are trying to knock him out of office are corporate money, and the same old crap that has ruined politics in this country.

I highly doubt that either will say a word about the corporate money raised to unseat Kucinich. Obama and Clinton are getting this same kind of money that is being used to unseat Kucinich. Obama and Clinton are not agents of change.

13. If the campaign was going fine
he wouldnt be worried about donations, if they were in deep shit, they wouldn't advertise it either. I'm thinking the worst, hoping for the best and sending what I can, I think I might be nearing my max donations soon lol.

14. there is no doubt, however, that Pelosi would love to see Kucinich replaced
As far as the extremist Rightist group aipac goes, they'd do anything to get rid of him.

They will not likely succeed.

16. It would be cool....
If a bunch of people in transition, without responsibilities, would move to his district and stay throught the election, voting him in again!
Libertatians did that in NH & I note the state is more conservative than it used to be.
religious conservatives were doing that in SC. If you think that Obama wouldn't have won there......think again!
A woman at our caucus in Maine, stood up and said the BIBLE says "A family shall be led by a man, therefore a country should be lead by a man!"
SO she caucused for Obama.
ANother woman stood up and said "What about the separation between church & state."
Ya can't make this stuff up!
