Iraq morgue chief says 13 bodies found in mass grave
The bodies of 13 men, some of whom have been gruesomely beheaded, have been found in a mass grave in the central Iraqi province of Diyala, a mortuary official said on Tuesday.
Ahmed Fuad, chief of the morgue in Baquba, capital of Diyala, said the decomposed bodies were handed over to the Iraqi authorities by US forces for identification and burial.
The US military said, however, it could not confirm the report.
Fuad said the bodies had been dumped in a hole near the town of Muqdadiyah, about 90 kilometres (55 miles) northeast of Baghdad.
They were in a state of decomposition with some showing signs of having been tortured, he said.
