"Mr. OBAMA (for himself and Ms. SNOWE) introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs

A BILL

To amend titles 10 and 38, United States Code, to improve benefits and services for members of the Armed Forces, veterans of the Global War on Terrorism, and other veterans, to require reports on the effects of the Global War on Terrorism, and for other purposes."

As the Walter Reed story gains additional traction, and results in similar stories from rundown VAMC's around the country, expect to hear more about Obama's timely, bipartisan leadership on this issue.

... was on the chopping block of the VA CARES Commission: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=va+cares+commission+beckley

But to your point: yes, I think Obama will reap a heavy dividend from veterans' groups, who know that he stood with them in the last Congress.

Look at the timing of his bill in the original post: the day after Congress came back into session. That says something about his priorities.
