Conspiracy theorists, stand up and give your two cents
There have been dozens of threads "thanking anonymous donor for a heart."

I think it´s a trick ... someone wants people to stay at DU, that´s why the hearts are being posted.

You know how long you stayed in school, just because you got Valentine cards in the first grade?

Are you with me?

5. No, I'm not with you. Getting a heart won't make me stay. Not why I stayed in school either.
If that is the reason why anyone stays, because they got an anonymous internet icon heart, well, whatever. And no, I stayed in school because it was required, not because I got Valentines in first grade. Is that why you stayed in school? Just because you got Valentines? Hey, a new way to deal with the drop-out issue! Give then Valentines hearts.

6. It was THEM.
They did it, and they know it. Furthermore, they know who they are.

We'll get them. They have only to slip up.

They're behind it, I tell you.

8. I appreciate the heart I got, but I can't help to think it was a sympathy heart...
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 04:24 PM by Javaman
That's something left over in my pea little brain from elementary school.

You know the kids in the class that never got a valentines card? that was me. Yeah yeah, boo hoo, whatever.

anyway, what was more insulting was the various "do gooder" girls that, either forced by their parents or out of some selfish need to feel noble would hand out the "sympathy" valentines cards.

"here you go, javaman, happy valentines day!", she uttered with pasted on patient smile.

"Gee, thanks", I responded with a genuine feeling of being accepted until she handed the exact same card to the kid who ate his snot on a daily basis.

So, to whom ever chose to give me the heart, thanks, but please if you are going to give the exact same heart to the kid who eats paste, try to be a little more creative then just using the same phrase and same pasted on smile.

Life as a bald kid in suburbia.

11. OK I was a sympathy valentine giver in second grade, and
my mom never made me do it, I did it on my own. I thought it was the right thing to do. I couldn't stand seeing kids who got no valentines, it tore me up inside.
