Pardon me if I think this is a godawful waste of taxpayer resources. We've got folks (U.S. military and native civilians) dying in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have a pitiful educational system and impoverished Americans. We have ecosystems collapsing. We have corporations enjoying more priviledges than individual citizens. We have voters who don't have a prayer that their vote counts.

Forgive me if I think this is a monumental waste of fucking time and energy on the part of our legislature.

Athletes use steroids to improve performance. Sucks and its cheating...in the context of my life and the future of my children. Nada!

Get back to work assholes.

9. And the good old media did their job again.
They showed it on all cable media outlets for hours and hours today because there was absolutely nothing else going on in America. :sarcasm:

12. Exactly!
I turned the TV on and was like WTH? Why am I looking at this? Surely something worth reporting is going on in the world. I don't give a shit if these grown folk dope up! What I'd like to know is when are we getting out of this war and what the hell is this government going to do about this economic mess.

11. But, but, but reporting on telecom immunity is sooo dull and boring.
And Senator Larry Craig (R-I'm not gay) was given the Senate Ethics Committee's equivalent of the death penalty, ... admonishment.

The MSM is truly FUBAR.

15. Interesting TV Coverage
I agree that Congress wastes too much time with these useless "hearings". But it does reach an audience that uaually isn't tuned into politics. The Clemmens hearings were run in their entirety on ESPN and was all over all the Sports reports and sports talk stations. Usually these people couldn't care less about anything that doesn't sweat...and that it got such coverage was interesting. Maybe a few of these viewers saw goons like Disco Danny Burton and the other GOOP suck-ups on that panel that may swing a couple votes our way this year. Minimal returns, but this is trying to look for a little positive out of this waste of time.

Don't expect much of Congress this year...except to continue to roll to the extortion and obstruction tactics of the executive. With ALL members up for re-election, they will be afraid to touch anything that is controversial or could cause "problems" with their campaigns. Election year pandering is in...real government is out...but then considering how the boooosh regime has screwed up this country, the less they do the better.

perhaps such usage would improve performance.
