Thanks so much for your informative and insightful posts about poverty and how things really are for the most marginalized people in our country. A lot of DUers suffer from a condition known as "elite-itis" and think that their privileged experience applies to everyone else. It's stunning to see the clueless judgemental attitudes come out when things like being poor, fat, or female are being discussed.

Says a lot about the state of mind in a culture by what types of people get scapegoated and which people with what issues become 'socially sanctioned scapegoats"..And that connects to bigger issues that are ignored. It is rather scary how normalized the system of domination is ain't it?
